Sagrado is born from the most intimate and painful archive of my family: a collection of home videos in which, in 1985, my father films his siblings to send a “recorded letter” to Miguel, the brother who had migrated to the United States. Shortly after, when I was four years old, I travel with my father to California to visit Miguel. During that trip, Miguel dies tragically in a traffic accident—an event my father and I witnessed firsthand. From that day on, my father’s light dimmed forever, leaving behind these images, through which I now attempt an intergenerational, collective catharsis: a search for healing from our shared trauma.
